Michael Eavis confirms 'triumphant' Coldplay for Glastonbury

Listen to full tracks now. Users outside the UK can hear 30-second clips of each song.

Glastonbury festival organiser Michael Eavis has confirmed that Coldplay will headline the 2011 event.

It had already been widely reported that Chris Martin and co were to play the June event, but now Eavis has confirmed the booking.

He told the festival's official website, Glastonburyfestivals.co.uk, that they would headline the Pyramid Stage on the Saturday (June 25) of the festival. It will be the first time they've played the event since they headlined the same stage in 2005, having also done so in 2002.

"Coldplay have played such a major part in the festival over the last 10 years or so," Eavis said. "As their popularity grew around the world I was so proud of them. This is the triumphant return of a band that everyone here feels part of. They're one of the greatest phenomena to grow from these fields."

Beyonce is also set to play a headline slot at the event, while U2, who pulled out of the 2010 event after singer Bono injured his back, are likely to be the third headliners.

Glastonbury 2011 takes place at Worthy Farm, Pilton, Somerset. Billed music takes place on June 24-26, with the site opening on June 22.

Marina And The Diamonds singer alerts police after new songs leak

Marina Diamandis of Marina And The Diamonds has claimed that she has contacted the police over the leaking of some of her unfinished new songs.

Writing on her blog at Marinaandthediamonds.com, the singer made a plea for fans to come forward with information to help find the culprit or culprits.

"I have the police involved," she claimed. "So if you know information about the people who are doing this, you can message me. I have waxed lyrical to [record label] Warner about how incredible you are and I have faith in you on this."

She added: "I am asking for you to protect me. I rely on you guys heavily - and transparently - and I need your help. You're the only ones who control whether things stop or spread."

She wrote that the leaks were impinging on her creativity and branded the culprits "grim" and "unworthy".

"The more leaks that happen, the slower I go," she wrote. "As you can imagine, the thought of people invading my privacy and listening to half-assed unfinished songs that I write at 3am on a tour bus does not make me feel too relaxed or creative."

Sean Yox & The Streamers:

These guys are an indie rock band, which is different from my normal listening, which is classic rock. However, when I saw that their influences included the Kinks, the Beatles, and the Rolling Stones, I knew I couldn't pass this one up, and the record didn't disappoint. Overall, the tracks are very catchy, and you can definitely hear the influences - the Beatles-sounding Indian background music, the simple melodies of the Kinks. However, at the same time they make sure not to eclipse their own sound, and they still end up with a unique sound. Overall, I give it a 4/5 and would recommend checking it out"

Wild Deer:
Such Nice and spirited fellowes, assembling together, Who, knowing the diff. of peace and warre, and creating a sounde so sweete and mellifluous, the which as it does not a little soothe ye tender harts of many a loving man and woman, & fowles in the ayre, fish in the sea, Beastes in the woodes, Deere, &Yc.

Only kidding...

Songwriter Ed Fingerling first discovered the term “wild deer” in The Auguries of Innocence by prophetic British poet and artist William Blake (1757-1827). Wild Deer is also a poem by 14th century Persian poet and mystic Hafez.

The band proudly hails from New York City. Their music reflects their passion to creatively express sentiment and emotion. They don’t try to sound like any band but themselves, which is refreshing in this
oft-redundant music industry. Their major influences include
The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Clash, The Beatles,
Hüsker Dü, Nirvana, Guns & Roses, Aerosmith, and Paul Weller.

The Wild Deer’s debut cd Live Free includes a track titled “Rise” which was recently licensed by ESPN for their Nascar Now! television show. The song “River of Soul” was included in the New York Post’s
“207 Best Songs to Download from 2007.” On their MPFREEs
Web site column the New York Post also gave away the song “Grass” in November of the same year. “Rise” and “God’s Eyes” have been played on Q104.3 FM, K-Rock 92.3 FM and influential 90.5 FM “The Night” National Public Radio broadcasting from Brookdale Community College. Telecom Italia in Italy has licensed the song “For My People” for commercial use.

The Wild Deer’s music is available for download on iTunes.
