Josh Homme says band are heading back to the studio after they finish European tour

Queens Of The Stone Age will finish their sixth studio album later this year, frontman Josh Homme has said.

Speaking on BBC Radio 1, Homme said the band were heading straight back to the studio after they headline The Other Stage at this year’s Glastonbury festival.

Homme said: "We're going to take our one last break that we would get for a month, come back and do Glastonbury, then immediately jump in the studio. Our record will be done by the end of the year. We have enough songs."

Asked about the new direction of the album, Homme said it was unlikely to involve a radical new sound, as the band don’t "feel they have anything to prove." He said: "We're at a weird moment where we really don't feel like we have anything to prove. We just want to play to the people that are into us and we want to play right at them."

The band are booked to do a US tour in July and early August, with Homme indicating that these would be the first live dates where the band didn’t play the whole of their debut album in full, as they have been doing for the last few months.

He said: "I'm not going to lie: I'm sick of doing the first record. We've never played the same set list before."

Aerosmith to record 'old school' new album in 2011

Drummer Joey Kramer reveals 'my brothers and I are destined to make another record'

Aerosmith are going to record an "old school" new album next year.

In an interview with SpinnerMusic.co.uk, drummer Joey Kramer revealed that they are "going to do it the old way".

"Yeah, we're going to make an album," he said. "That would be very special. I would like to see a record within a year from the Aerosmith boys. My brothers and I are destined to make another record in the next year or so."

"It's going to be an old school Aerosmith record," he continued. "We're going to do it the old way with the whole band [in the same room] and it should be a good one. We're all anticipating."

Despite a turbulent past, which has included crisis talks to save the band from splitting, Kramer admits that the only thing that will stop them continuing as a group is if one of them dies.

"One of the things that's great about being in this band is that I never know what's going to happen next," he explained. "What you see in the mirror, is that really what you're going to get or not?"

He added: "Really, at this point in time, the only thing that's going to stop us is if someone out-and-out dies. Other than that, we've already been through what we've been through and stood the test of time. What else is there?"
