Close behind is BBC One's Sherlock, which is nominated for Best Drama, with both of its stars, Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman up for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor respectively. Cumberbatch finds himself up against Doctor Who star Matt Smith. Both shows are written and produced by Steven Moffat.
Meanwhile, supernatural hit Being Human finds itself nominated for Best Drama, with the rest of the nominations in that category going to Downton Abbey and Any Human Heart.
Also getting three nominations are Any Human Heart and BBC Four's historical drama The Road To Coronation Street. In the International category, Glee finds itself pitted against Martin Scorcese's breakout hit Boardwalk Empire.
The Philips British Academy Television Awards take place at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on Sunday, May 22. The awards will be broadcast on BBC One on the same evening.
